OSA's Board is comprised of residents and business owners all from our community. Each Board Member is required to make an annual financial contribution, as well as serve as officers or on committees, to assist OSA in fulfilling its mission.
Steve Hindy, founding member of the Open Space Alliance and President of the Brooklyn Brewery has served on the board of the Prospect Park Alliance for over 15 years. He is a dedicated champion of parks and open space.
Adam D. Perlmutter is the principal attorney of the Law Offices of Adam D. Perlmutter, P.C. His practice focuses on criminal defense, civil rights and local environmental litigation. Adam is a member of the advisory group of the New York State Justice Commission. He has served on Community Board 1 and as counsel to the Greenpoint Waterfront Association for Parks and Planning (GWAPP). He and his wife, Barbara McGlamery, have lived in Greenpoint since 1997. They have a 2 sons.
Robert has been with KPMG since 1995, moving to Williamsburg in 2006 after 9 years overseas. His volunteer activities range from helping students prepare for interviews to reviewing accounting information and systems. Robert has worked with small non-profit organizations, including those focused on job creation and sustainable development.
Anna joined the international accounting firm, KPMG, in their Moscow, Russia office in 1997 and has worked in several locations including Denver, CO. She moved to Williamsburg in 2006. Her interest in OSA is driven by the strong growth in the neighborhood.
Stephanie was Vice President in the Corporate & Investment Bank of an international financial institution, partner in a small boutique, staff member of political campaigns, and devoted community activist before becoming OSA's ED. She now also serves as the Administrator of North Brooklyn Parks for the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, giving voice to our community concerns within the agency and city government. She lives a block from our developing Bushwick Inlet Park, and works in our largest regional park, McCarren.
Joe Vance is the owner of an Williamsburg-based architectural practice, Joseph Vance Architects, specializing in high-end residential interior renovations and new residential developments. He is a founding member of the Open Space Alliance, served as the co-chair of the Greenpoint Waterfront Association for Parks & Planning for 5 years and also serves on the board of the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative. Joe is a 24-year resident of Greenpoint and father of an 18 year old son.
A resident of Greenpoint, John practices law. He was a founding member and past Chairman of the Board of the Investors' Circle, a network for investors in socially responsible ventures. John also served as a trustee of Ecologically Sustainable Development, Inc., an NGO that was engaged in land use and sustainable development planning for macro-ecosystems, including the Lake Baikal basin in Siberia and Mongolia, and the Ussuri River basin between China and Siberia.
Tom Pritchard is owner and principal designer of Madderlake Designs, a landscape and architecture design firm based in Williamsburg. Founded in 1975, Madderlake Designs relocated in 1999 to a former firehouse on Kent Avenue - a live/work building that Tom shares with his partner, Jody Rhone. Architectural projects range from residential work to small but creative commercial projects. Landscape projects are located throughout the country, from all over the tri-state area to Palm Beach, Toronto, Aspen and Gunnison, Colorado. Tom worked with the Friends of BEDT Park on alternative designs to the NYU/State Park proposal and is committed to more and better parks and waterfront access throughout Williamsburg and Greenpoint.
Dewey Thompson is the Commissioner of the Greenpoint Williamsburg Youth Soccer League, a member of the Board of Directors of GWAPP, a member of Community Board One and the president of Pickerel Pie Entertainment, a television branding and production company. He is the father of three native Greenpointers, husband to a renaissance woman and whether by bicycle, canoe or kayak, committed to getting across the East River on his own power.
Audra is a registered nurse living in Greenpoint with her husband and two children. She is on the Education Committee of the Ottaway Foundation.
A Brooklyn soccer mom, has resided in Greenpoint for 8 years and is co-owner of Excello Recording Studio in Williamsburg. She has organized several events (including a Patti Smith concert) for the Greenpoint Williamsburg Waterfront Task Force. Jane is on the board of Neighbors Allied for Good Growth and on the PTA at PS-132 in Williamsburg.
Dominique is a seasoned entrepreneur and business builder with significant involvement in information technology systems implementation and management. He worked more than 11 years for Oracle where he was responsible for the Consulting Services first in France and then in the Northeast. Dominique leads with an adaptive business approach, enthusiasm and energy. He has an MBA from HEC (Hautes Etudes Comerciales) and is a civil engineer by training. He moved to Williamsburg early 2007, and joined OSA Board at the end of 2008. Dominique has two grown up daughters and is an avid sailor. You will see him jogging or biking the Brooklyn Greenway and playing tennis at McCarren Park.
Kimberly Burkan is a LEED accredited professional and registered New York State architect. She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture. She worked for prominent New York architectural and construction management firms for the past eight years. She and her husband have two young girls and live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Alan Hill is the owner of the creative agency Alan Hill Design, a small award-winning graphic design agency with clients in the arts, publishing, real estate, education, and consumer products. In addition to serving on the OSA board, Alan serves on the board of the Greenpoint Williamsburg Youth Soccer League, and is actively involved in local public schools at PS 132 and NEST+m. He resides in Greenpoint with his wife, an artist, and two children.
An 8 year resident of Greenpoint, Glenn holds a Phd in Religious Studies and Urban Affairs, majoring in Community Development. He is also a registered architect. Glenn has taught courses on Urban Economics, Architect/Planner as Developer, Senior Housing, served on the board of Artopolis developing live/work housing for artists. Glenn currently works at Time Equities as an architect/developer.
A 15 year resident of Williamsburg, Aggie works as a creative director in the fashion industry. A founding member of the Open Space Alliance, Aggie works with the Greenpoint/ Williamsburg Waterfront Task Force in the battle against the TGE powerplant.
Amy Abrams is the co-founder of Artists & Fleas, a weekly marketplace for emerging artists, designers and vintage collectors in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The market has hosted thousands of artists & designers over the past 8 years and receives visitors from around the world. Amy is also the co-founder of In Good Company Workplaces, a collaborative workspace and community for women business owners in NYC. Amy lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children.
BRAD ANDERSON John Bradley Anderson ("Brad") is a Director at Deutsche Bank, where he has worked since 1996. He presently runs the Liquidity Management area in Deutsch's Private Bank. Brad is a member of the board of directors of Town Square which, among other things, organizes events for children in North Brooklyn parks. His wife, Susan, heads research for Constellation Capital Management LLC and is the current Chairperson of Town Square.
Brad graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with bachelor degrees from the Wharton School and the College of Arts and Sciences, and NYU's Stern School with an MBA. Brad and Susan have lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for over 20 years. They have one son, Brenton.
Scott Stedman began work as a magazine writer working for MIT’s Technology Review after returning from Germany and France in 2001, where he had been awarded a Thomas Watson Fellowship.
Scott launched The L Magazine in 2003 from a one-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn with his brother Daniel Stedman. The L Magazine currently has a circulation of 107,000, the highest circulation for a local events guide targeting 18-34 year-old readers in New York City. In June 2008, The L Magazine launched The Northside Festival, NYC's largest "discovery" event for emerging music, film, art, and ideas. In 2011 Scott became the CEO of Northside Media Group, which collected the different companies into one, and launched Brooklyn Magazine, a quarterly publication that defines the style of Brooklyn for a local and national audience.
